Job summary

Barak Capital Market Making is seeking a Software Engineer to build and scale the core engine of its algorithmic trading platform in Amsterdam. You will tackle memory management and Linux internals to extract microsecond-level efficiencies in a high-frequency trading environment.

You will work with quantitative traders, hardware engineers, and systems admins to design robust, low-latency infrastructure across global markets, taking ownership of complex projects from design to production

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in C++ or Java.
• Deep knowledge of memory layout, concurrency models, Linux OS internals, kernel profiling, and low-latency optimizations.
• Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team and participate in rigorous code reviews.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain complex low-level concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, low-latency core trading components focusing on IPC, memory optimization, thread management, and network I/O.
• Collaborate with Linux and network engineers to optimize kernel buffers, hardware integration, and system configurations.
• Translate trading strategies into ultra-fast, deterministic production code in collaboration with traders and researchers.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for architecture, benchmarking, CI/CD automation, and production monitoring.
• Articulate trade-offs and bottlenecks clearly across technical and non-technical teams.
