Job summary

A leading technology-driven trading firm in Amsterdam is seeking a Linux System Administrator. This hands-on role involves maintaining a complex Linux-based infrastructure that supports real-time trading systems. The ideal candidate will have strong Linux administration skills and experience with automation tools like Ansible and Python, along with a Bachelor's degree in a related field. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with excellent growth potential.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with Linux system administration in performance-sensitive environments.
• Proficient in configuration and troubleshooting of servers and storage infrastructure.
• Experience managing hardware deployments and on-prem infrastructure in data centers.
• Familiarity with Python, Shell scripting, and command-line tooling.
• Strong understanding of IT security practices and system hardening.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills, especially across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.

We’re seeking a Linux System Administrator on behalf of a technology-driven trading firm with global reach and a reputation for high-performance systems, engineering craftsmanship, and operational excellence. You will join a collaborative, high-impact infrastructure team working directly alongside top-tier software engineers and traders.

This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and evolving a Linux-based trading environment that demands reliability, consistency, and speed. You’ll be empowered to bring creative ideas to the table, from automation to observability, and turn them into robust solutions.

What You'll Do

• Maintain and enhance a complex Linux-based infrastructure that powers real-time trading systems.
• Own the lifecycle of infrastructure components: provisioning, configuration, performance tuning, and decommissioning.
• Act as the first responder for hardware/software incidents, working closely with traders and developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Automate infrastructure management and operational tasks using Ansible, Shell, and Python.
• Manage and maintain data center hardware and on-prem server installations.
• Perform proactive audits of the environment to enforce security and compliance best practices.
• Monitor system performance and capacity to ensure stability and uptime for time-critical applications.
• Ensure consistent daily startup conditions for live trading systems across multiple environments and geographies.
• Standardize documentation, processes, and recovery procedures for internal teams.
