Job summary

Resthaven in Holland, MI is seeking an activities coordinator to plan, coordinate, and lead engaging group activities for residents.

You will provide meaningful one-on-one activities, document participation, support volunteers, and help maintain calendars and spaces, while ensuring safety and dietary considerations.

The role requires good interpersonal skills, flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and a passion for enriching seniors' lives.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; college coursework in related fields preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults or in senior living, healthcare, or activity programming helps.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging group activities for residents.
  • Provide meaningful one-on-one activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and needs.
  • Document resident participation and attendance in department records.
  • Assist with development and implementation of the monthly activity calendar.
  • Support and coordinate volunteers participating in resident programs and events.
  • Prepare activity spaces and maintain activity supplies, equipment, and program areas.
  • Participate in resident outings, special events, and transportation activities as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and interdisciplinary team members.

Pay Range

$15 - $16.50

Education, Training, Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • College coursework in Recreational Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with older adults, senior living communities, healthcare, recreation, or activity programming preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage groups and individuals effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, team members, volunteers, and leadership.
  • Ability to speak clearly and confidently when facilitating activities and making announcements.
  • Ability to redirect and encourage resident participation in a positive, supportive manner.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with common software applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
