Job summary

Stora Enso Group is seeking a Legal Entity Controller in the Netherlands to ensure statutory accounting, regulatory reporting and tax compliance for local entities. You will own statutory statements, manage audits, and partner with Finance/Treasury to implement changes while ensuring governance and internal controls.

The role requires 4+ years in accounting, IFRS/GAAP expertise, and strong communication in a multinational setting; SAP proficiency is essential, with Dutch and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting/Finance; certification advantageous.
• 4+ years in accounting, auditing or financial controllership.
• Strong knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS for legal entity reporting.
• Solid statutory accounting, indirect/direct tax processes and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own statutory financial statements, tax declarations, and regulatory filings with timely submission.
• Manage local tax matters including compliance, reporting, filings, and audits.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise as a local SME.
• Collaborate with Finance Operations, Treasury, Tax, and stakeholders on legal entity implications.
• Coordinate with external auditors, deliverables, and audit findings resolution.
• Oversee monthly/quarterly/annual legal entity financial statements and OneStream reporting.
• Ensure internal controls and quality of statements; drive process improvements locally.
• Perform local knowledge-based tasks and maintain compliance reporting as required.

We are now looking for the **Legal Entity Controller** to join our Record to Report team in **Netherlands**.The **Legal Entity Controller** is a senior-level role accountable and responsible for the financial integrity, compliance, and regulatory reporting of specific subsidiaries or legal entities within a larger organization. In this position you ensure that statutory accounting, reporting, indirect and direct tax filings and other local compliance obligations are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and in line with local laws, tax requirements, regulatory deadlines and internal group policies and quality standards. **Key Responsibilities*** Accountable for legal entity reporting ensuring each individual company structure is compliant with local laws, tax requirements and group internal policies* Own the statutory financial statements, tax declarations and other regulatory filings and ensure timely filings according to local regulations* Manage all local tax matters for the legal entity, including tax compliance, reporting, filings and audits.* Responsible for monitoring local legislative changes and implementing updates as a local subject matter expert* Partner closely with other Finance Operations teams, Treasury, Tax, BA/BU and other stakeholders to provide guidance on the legal entity implications* Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinate deliverables, and resolve audit findings* Co-operate with external stakeholders* Responsible for and oversight of legal entity level monthly / quarterly / annual financial statement reporting (including selected closing activities), managing OneStream legal entity level actuals reporting (according to IFRS standards and group policies)* Contribute to good corporate governance by executing nominated Internal Controls, and quality assure legal entity level financial statements (based on Business, Finance Operations and other key stakeholder inputs)* Drive continuous improvement of local processes to enhance efficiency* Perform tasks which require local knowledge or are otherwise required to be performed locally, e.g., additional legal requirement reporting and statistics **Experience, Skills & Competencies*** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA or CIMA, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.* At least 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing or financial controllership* Very good knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS standards relevant for legal entity level reporting* Excellent knowledge of statutory accounting, indirect and direct tax processes, and related compliance requirements* Experience working in multinational environmentAnalytical ability with high attention to detail and quality* Ability to work under tight regulatory deadlines* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence without authority and explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders* Change management mindset—comfortable improving processes, building new ways of working, and driving standardization* System proficiency in ERP platforms like SAP and compliance/tax reporting tools* Fluency in local language and English, both written and spoken **Join the Renewable Materials Company**The forest is at the heart of Stora Enso, and we believe that everything made from fossil-based materials today can be made from a tree tomorrow.
