What are you going to do?

Joining Hypersolid as a Legal Counsel means stepping into a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where law meets innovation. You will play a central role in supporting our operations across the EMEA and US regions, working closely with the Legal Director and directly with the business. You’ll work full-time and at least twice weekly from our Alkmaar office and once per week from our Amsterdam office.

Your core responsibilities will involve drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts, particularly within IT, such as software licensing, development agreements, hosting contracts, and master service agreements. You’ll also advise on procurement and ensure our products and services comply with evolving privacy laws and AI regulations.

Beyond commercial contracting, you’ll collaborate with teams across the business—product, HR, marketing, and partnerships—offering clear, pragmatic legal guidance that supports innovation while managing risk. You’ll have the freedom and responsibility to own legal matters, shaping how we grow compliantly and sustainably.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with clients, vendors, and strategic partners.
• Support procurement processes by reviewing related contracts and advising stakeholders.
• Guide compliance efforts related to privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR) and AI legislation (e.g. the EU AI Act).
• Advise on influencer sponsorship agreements and advertising partnerships.
• Provide first-line support on employment matters, coordinating with HR and external labor law counsel.
• Advise on legal considerations in product development, joint ventures, and technology collaborations.

Requirements

• Legally trained (Dutch bachelor’s and master’s university degree in law) with at least 3 years of experience in a law firm or international in-house role.
• Experienced with drafting and negotiating IT and commercial contracts.
• Knowledgeable about privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and emerging AI laws (e.g., EU AI Act).
• A bonus if you have experience with corporate/M&A or labor law.
• Confident in engaging with non-legal colleagues, offering clear, actionable advice.
• A proactive self-starter—someone who takes ownership and works independently.
• Open, social, and grounded, with a good sense of humor.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English (both mandatory).
