Job description

Educating future leaders in Hotel Business Management

Connect practice and theory to shape the future of hospitality

We are looking for a lecturer who teaches beyond the hotel day-to-day operations and guides students in understanding the business of hotels from an ownership and long-term value perspective. If sharing your passion with the next generation and sparking their enthusiasm for the world of hospitality business excites you, then this role has your name written all over it — and we cannot wait to welcome you with open arms at Hotel Management School Maastricht!

About the position

Take the next step in shaping the future of hospitality!

You combine teaching with a broader role in shaping our business of hotels education.

You teach and coach students in areas such as innovative hospitality, performance management, business control and analysis, and revenue management. As an all-round hospitality expert, you help students develop a strong understanding of the business side of hotel management and support them in applying this knowledge in projects and real-life hospitality challenges.

You also play an important role within our track Business of Hotels, one of three specialization tracks within our bachelor’s programme. You further develop the business of hotels education and connect lecturers, coordinators, students, expert groups and external industry partners. In doing so, you help ensure that our education remains relevant, forward-looking and closely connected to professional practice.

Our team and work environment at the Hotel Management School Maastricht

At Hotel Management School Maastricht, we prepare students for an international career in hospitality and service industries. We aim to educate professionals who understand the industry, take responsibility and contribute to its development. Collaboration, initiative and continuous learning are central in how we work with students and colleagues.

Our school has a long tradition of connecting education with practice. Students, staff, alumni and industry partners work closely together on our campus in Maastricht. This strong community allows us to combine academic learning with real-world perspectives and helps us prepare students to become responsible professionals and future leaders in hospitality.

What we are looking for
  • You have a strong understanding of the Business of Hotels and the developments shaping its future. You are a strategic thinker who sees hotels not merely as operational environments, but as complex, human-centered enterprises embedded in broader economic and societal system.

  • You bring substantial senior management experience in international hotel management and are able to translate that experience into high-quality education.

  • You are a natural connector and networker who enjoys bringing together colleagues, students and external partners.

  • You operate comfortably in an international and intercultural environment and teach in both Dutch and English at near-native level.

  • You hold a master's degree in hospitality, business or a related field, or are willing to obtain one within the first two years of employment.

What we offer
  • A position for 0.6 FTE up to 1 FTE, based on your availability. We would start with a one-year contract.

  • The salary is based on scale 11 of the collective labour agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences (cao-hbo). This corresponds to a minimum of €4.427,64 and a maximum of €6.677,44 gross per month based on a full-time appointment.

  • Holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.

  • A generous number of vacation days.

  • Professional development and employability hours, as well as a comprehensive vitality programme.

Deadline: November 1, 2026
