Job summary

Catawiki is seeking a Lead Security Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership in our security team within Platform Engineering. You will shape the security roadmap and own delivery of complex initiatives, protecting the marketplace and customer data.

The role focuses on application and cloud security, secure software delivery, and risk management across internal and AI-enabled systems, with growth potential into people management as the team evolves.

Qualifications

• Hands-on security engineering experience across software or cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of application and cloud security including IAM and secrets management.
• Led threat modelling, secure code/design reviews and remediation work.
• Able to develop or automate in Ruby, Python, Go and review backend code.
• Integrate security into CI/CD, IaC and cloud infra.
• Experience in security incident investigations/responses.
• Mentored engineers and led technical initiatives.
• Able to communicate risks clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Shape the security engineering roadmap and lead complex initiatives end-to-end.
• Design and build security controls across apps, cloud, IAM, CI/CD and IaC.
• Lead threat modelling and secure code/design reviews with early risk mitigation.
• Investigate vulnerabilities and remediation with reusable preventative controls.
• Improve security checks in engineering workflows and reduce false positives.
• Contribute to incident investigations and enhance detection/response tooling.
• Mentor security engineers and share knowledge through guidance and training.
• Collaborate with Legal, IT and Trust & Safety on controls, policies and audit evidence.
• Measure adoption and communicate progress to stakeholders.
