Job summary

Next Ventures seeks an experienced Lead Platform Engineer for a long-term engagement with a Dutch public sector client. The role is hybrid in The Hague, requiring Dutch-speaking capabilities and a hands-on, leadership-focused approach.

You will architect and deliver a secure identity platform enabling SaaS access, with SSO, identity federation, and automated onboarding. Regular on-site collaboration with stakeholders and coordination of specialist engineers are expected.

Qualifications

• Senior Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Solution Architect background.
• Hands-on with OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SAML.
• Experience with identity federation and SaaS integrations.
• Experience with SCIM or API-based user provisioning.
• Experience with IaC and modern software delivery practices.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with customers and architect decisions.
• Experience in regulated environments (BIO, NIS2) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of the SaaS access and onboarding platform.
• Act as the primary technical contact for the customer throughout the engagement.
• Define architecture and integration patterns for: SSO, Identity Federation, User Provisioning, SaaS Onboarding.
• Apply standards such as OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and OpenID.NLGov where appropriate.
• Drive standardisation, automation, and reusable platform engineering patterns.
• Translate customer requirements into architecture, backlog items, and engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate specialist Platform Engineers when additional expertise is required.
• Lead technical workshops and align stakeholders.

Lead Platform Engineer, SaaS Access & Identity

We are looking for an experienced Lead Platform Engineer for a long-term engagement with a Dutch public sector customer.

The organisation is developing a standardised capability that provides employees with secure access to SaaS applications. The solution includes an application portal, identity integration, and automated SaaS onboarding.

You will act as the technical lead and primary customer contact for the platform engineering team. You will regularly work on-site with the customer and coordinate additional engineering expertise and delivery capacity where needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of the SaaS access and onboarding platform.
• Act as the primary technical contact for the customer throughout the engagement.
• Define architecture and integration patterns for:
• Single Sign-On (SSO)
• Identity Federation
• User Provisioning
• SaaS Onboarding
• Apply industry standards such as OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and OpenID.NLGov where appropriate.
• Drive standardisation, automation, and reusable platform engineering patterns.
• Translate customer requirements into architecture, backlog items, and engineering deliverables.
• Leverage existing platform engineering capabilities and frameworks where applicable.
• Coordinate specialist Platform Engineers when additional expertise is required.
• Lead technical workshops and align business, delivery, and engineering stakeholders.

Required Experience

• Background as a Senior Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Solution Architect.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• OIDC
• OAuth 2.0
• SAML
• Experience with enterprise identity federation and SaaS integrations.
• Experience with SCIM or API-based user provisioning.
• Strong platform engineering and automation mindset.
• Experience working with APIs, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern software delivery practices.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with customers and make pragmatic architectural decisions.

Experience working with Dutch government standards or in highly regulated environments, including BIO and NIS2, would be a significant advantage.

Profile

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with ownership and leadership qualities.

You should be comfortable acting as the lead technical representative, guiding engineering teams, working through ambiguous requirements, and bringing in specialist expertise when necessary. The ideal candidate is capable of balancing strategic thinking with hands-on technical delivery while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships throughout the engagement.
