Job summary

Siemens Mobility in The Hague is seeking a Lead Engineer Electrical for datacenter power distribution. You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and ensure delivery on time and within budget.

The role includes coordinating with project management, procurement and site teams, acting as the technical focal point for customers and stakeholders, and guiding deliverables through the project lifecycle. English fluency is required; Dutch knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master degree in electrical engineering with at least 7 years of multidisciplinary electrotechnical project experience.
• Experience with low/medium voltage switchgear, transformers, short-circuit and selectivity calculations per IEC 61439.
• Proven ability to prepare technical reports and test plans.
• Fluent in English; EU national with Dutch language knowledge preferred.

In the role of Lead Engineer Electrical, you will be responsible for the engineering and realization of projects in the field of power distribution in the international data Centre industry.

The Lead Engineer is responsible for the technical solution and ensures that it is realised within agreed timeline and budget.

In this position, you will work for the Electrical Engineering team for data centres, which consists of around 30 engineers. We are looking for a Lead Engineer Electrical to fit into this close-knit and driven team.

What are your responsibilities?

As Lead Engineer, you are responsible for the technical execution of complex power distribution projects. You ensure that all engineering disciplines work together effectively and deliver on time and within budget.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ensuring technical alignment between all project disciplines and designs.
• Coordinating with project management, procurement, document control and site teams.
• Acting as the technical point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Reviewing and guiding engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting the engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of power distribution systems.
• Managing technical scope, quality, planning and engineering budgets.
• Visiting factories and project sites to support testing, customer meetings and project execution.

You work closely with other disciplines who work on different projects include:

• Medium and low voltage switchgear
• Transformers and power distribution units
• Busbar systems
• Protection, automation and monitoring systems
• E-Houses and skid-mounted solutions

This role is primarily based in The Hague, with regular travel to factories and project sites in the Netherlands and abroad.

What do you need to be considered for this position?

• Completed Bachelor or master degree in electrical engineering with at least 7 years work experience as (lead) engineer in multidisciplinary electrotechnical projects;
• Practical and theoretical experience with low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, short-circuit and selectivity calculations and standards such as IEC 61439;
• Experience in preparing technical reports and test plans;
• Creative, positive, able to communicate ideas and encourage people;
• Able to make engineering and execution plans, monitor and realize them;
• Experience in working in a multicultural team and managing and coaching engineers;
• Communicative, politically and commercially strong, able to cope with critical customers;
• Flexible and willing to travel regularly for short business trips;
• Stress resistant and able to act within a pressured environment;
• Speaks and writes English fluently;
• Preferably EU National with knowledge of the Dutch language;

The Team

The Electrical Engineering team is part of the "Data Centre Electrification & Automation" department, which is responsible for realizing multidisciplinary projects internationally. The engineering department consists of about 100 plus engineers divided over 7 different discipline groups.

The department falls under the Smart Infrastructure division; one of the world's largest suppliers of products, systems, solutions and services for the sustainable, reliable and efficient transmission and distribution of energy.
