Job summary

Trinamics in The Hague, the Netherlands, is looking for an experienced Lead Engineer Electrical to take technical ownership of power distribution projects for data centres worldwide.

You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, develop and review designs, work with HV/LV switchgear, transformers and PDUs, and coordinate with customers across borders on tight schedules.

Qualifications

• A completed BSc/MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience as an Electrical or Lead Engineer within multidisciplinary projects.
• Solid knowledge of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and power distribution systems.
• Experience with transformers, short-circuit calculations and selectivity studies.
• Knowledge of IEC 61439 and related standards.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing engineers.
• Ability to create and monitor engineering and execution plans.
• Willingness to travel regularly on short international business trips.
• Excellent command of English; Dutch language is a plus.

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer who enjoys taking technical ownership of complex, international projects? Do you want to work on the power infrastructure behind the data centers of tomorrow? Then this Lead Engineer Electrical position at Trinamics could be your next step.

The Role

As a Lead Engineer Electrical, you will take technical responsibility for the engineering and realization of projects in the field of power distribution for the data center industry.

You will be responsible for developing the technical solution and ensuring that engineering and execution are delivered according to the agreed scope, schedule, quality standards and budget.

You will join a close-knit and experienced Electrical Engineering team of around 20 engineers. The team is part of a larger multidisciplinary organization of approximately 100 engineers focused on Data Centre Electrification & Automation, delivering projects worldwide.

The organization develops and delivers technologies, systems and services for the sustainable, reliable and efficient transmission and distribution of electrical energy. Within the data centre industry, the focus is on reliable and scalable power infrastructure that is essential for the continuity of modern digital infrastructure.

What will you do?

As Lead Engineer, you will be the technical point of contact within the project. You will maintain an overview of the different engineering disciplines and ensure that all designs are functionally aligned.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking technical responsibility for engineering activities within multidisciplinary projects.
• Managing, supervising, coaching and supporting Interface Engineers and System Engineers.
• Monitoring technical scope, engineering schedules, quality and budgets.
• Developing and monitoring engineering and execution plans.
• Engineering and realizing power distribution solutions for data centers.Working with systems such as low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), busbar systems, digital protection, automation and monitoring systems, E-Houses and Skids.
• Reviewing technical designs, calculations, reports and test plans.
• Acting as the technical point of contact for customers and other stakeholders.
• Advising customers and coordinating different technical disciplines.
• Working closely with the Project Manager to successfully deliver projects.
• Attending and supervising factory acceptance tests, customer meetings and activities at project sites.
• Regularly travelling to factories and project locations in the Netherlands and abroad.

The data center industry is fast-paced, with short lead times and demanding technical requirements. You will therefore work in an environment where engineering, planning, customer requirements and execution come together every day.

What do you bring?

We are looking for an experienced engineer who combines strong electrical engineering expertise with leadership and excellent communication skills.

You have:

• A completed BSc/MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience as an Electrical or Lead Engineer within multidisciplinary projects.
• Solid knowledge of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and power distribution systems.
• Practical experience with transformers, short-circuit calculations and selectivity studies.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, preferably IEC 61439.
• Experience preparing technical reports and test plans.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing engineers.
• The ability to create and monitor engineering and execution plans.
• A practical and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into effective solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience dealing with demanding customers and different interests.
• A flexible attitude and willingness to travel regularly on short international business trips.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
