Job summary

Spotr is hiring its first Lead Engineer to take over from a fractional CTO. You will own the architecture behind the AI Asset Planner and shape the technical direction of the platform.

In this hybrid role in The Hague (2-3 days in the office), you’ll design data flows, balance speed and quality, and mentor a small senior team of engineers working across AI, data, and frontend/backend work. You will work with a hands-on approach, code daily in React and Python, and influence product decisions in

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years building at startups / small teams.
• Deep data architecture + system design, and you still code daily.
• Production LLM experience (hallucination, guardrails, evals).
• Built systems from zero and made the calls that mattered.
• Comfort with ambiguity (pre-PMF) and a genuine pull toward AI + data.
• React + Python

Spotr is building the AI Asset Planner for housing providers, combining portfolio data with computer vision, LLMs and agentic systems to help housing corporations plan maintenance, retrofit and investment at scale. It's live across the NL, UK, Ireland, Canada and Poland, and the decisions it powers move billions in investment and real quality-of-life outcomes.

They're hiring their first Lead Engineer to take over from a fractional CTO. It's a hands-on role (~60% hands on coding) owning the technical direction of the platform and coaching a small, senior team.

• Design data flows that tame messy customer data (Excel, APIs, databases) and country-specific compliance logic
• Make the hard trade-offs: speed vs. quality, AI vs. rule-based
• Set the bar for how the team solves problems, and coach senior engineers
