Job summary

AIMMS is building the next generation of data and AI capabilities for enterprise decision-making. We seek a Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to shape the data backbone, write code, and set technical direction in a hands-on role.

Your time will be ~70% hands-on engineering and architecture, with the remainder focused on technical leadership and mentoring. Hybrid work with a Haarlem office supports collaboration and growth.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend, platform, or data-intensive software engineering
• Strong hands-on skills in Python and SQL
• Experience building reliable backend services and data products
• Familiarity with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, DuckDB, PostgreSQL, Spark, or Polars
• Experience delivering B2B SaaS or enterprise software
• A software engineering mindset focused on maintainability, performance, and reliability
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical decisions
• Experience building AI agents, tool calling, evaluations, and production guardrails
• Comfort taking ownership in an ambiguous, greenfield environment
• Experience with Azure, C/C++, mathematical optimization, supply chain, or decision-support systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data products for large datasets
• Develop reliable AI-agent workflows for data inspection, transformation, and validation
• Solve challenging problems involving SQL generation, schema drift, joins, performance, and data quality
• Define the architecture and technical direction of the AIMMS Data Backbone
• Build production-quality services, APIs, tests, and CI/CD pipelines
• Research, prototype, and evaluate new technologies
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
• Work closely with Product, domain experts, and technical leadership
