Job summary

AIMMS is seeking a Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to own the data backbone and AI-enabled optimization. Approximately 70% of your time will be hands-on engineering and architecture, with the remainder focused on technical leadership and mentoring.

You will begin with product ownership for SENSAI Data Ready, turning large, imperfect datasets into reusable execution recipes in minutes, and you will shape the shared data backbone for future AIMMS applications.

Build the data backbone for AI-powered optimization.

This is a hands-on builder-lead role. You will shape the architecture, write code, make important technical decisions, and help grow the engineering capability around you. Approximately 70% of your time will be hands-on engineering and architecture, with the remaining time focused on technical leadership and mentoring.

AIMMS is building the next generation of data and AI capabilities for enterprise decision-making in areas such as supply chain and energy. We are looking for a Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to help turn this vision into production software.

You will begin with product ownership for SENSAI Data Ready, an AI-native product that addresses one of the biggest bottlenecks in supply-chain analytics.

Preparing large, imperfect customer datasets for optimization models can take weeks of manual work. SENSAI enables supply-chain analysts to use conversational, agentic AI to inspect, join, validate, and transform multi-million-row datasets into reusable execution recipes—in minutes.

From there, your scope will grow to defining and building the shared, persistent data backbone that enables future AIMMS applications.

What Will Help You Thrive and Be Successful

You do not need to match every item below. We are looking for a software-first engineer with strong data foundations, sound technical judgment, and the motivation to build something meaningful from zero to one.

• 6+ years of experience in backend, platform, or data-intensive software engineering
• Strong hands-on skills in Python and SQL
• Experience building reliable backend services and data products
• Familiarity with technologies such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, DuckDB, PostgreSQL, Spark, or Polars
• Experience delivering B2B SaaS or enterprise software
• A software engineering mindset focused on maintainability, performance, and reliability
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical decisions
• Experience building AI agents, tool calling, evaluations, and production guardrails
• Comfort taking ownership in an ambiguous, greenfield environment

Experience with Azure, C/C++, mathematical optimization, supply chain, or decision-support systems is a plus.
