Erasmus MC in Rotterdam seeks a Junior Researcher to support MOBI lab projects on biomechanics and osteoarthritis. You will write protocols, recruit participants, assist data collection, and help maintain the lab, collaborating with clinicians, researchers, and industry partners.
You will also analyze data and share results through conferences and peer-reviewed journals, working within a multidisciplinary team in a major university medical center.
Job Description
Our department is looking for a Junior Researcher to support several ongoing projects within the MOBI lab, the MOtion Biomechanics and Imaging lab. The MOBI lab represents a collaboration between Erasmus MC and TU Delft and is a motion analysis laboratory that includes a traditional motion capture system (MOTEK instrumented treadmill, Vicon/Nexus motion capture), an innovative embedded fluoroscopy system, an instrumented stationary bike, and more.
Our research is focused on understanding the role of biomechanics in the development of osteoarthritis and improving the assessment and personalized treatment of individuals with osteoarthritis.
The Junior Researcher will be embedded within and supported by a team of researchers within the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at Erasmus MC; and will collaborate with researchers in other Departments (e.g., Radiology & Nuclear Medicine), other institutions (e.g., the Department of Biomechanical Engineering at TU Delft), and other sectors (e.g., Moveshelf BV).
They will primarily perform their work at Erasmus MC in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, though they will also spend time in the Radiology Department where the MOBI lab is located, or more rarely at other offsite locations.
As a Junior Researcher, you possess a Masters degree with a background in healthcare or biomechanics. A related Masters background will be considered. You have a strong and enthusiastic scientific interest in relevant fields such as biomechanics and musculoskeletal health. In addition, you bring the following skills and qualities:
