Job summary

Unity Partners in Amsterdam is seeking a Junior Simulation Engineer to support the development of miniature electromechanical products. You will work on both detailed modelling and system-level integration, using simulation to turn concepts into feasible designs.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate; you will collaborate with senior engineers, build hands-on experience with COMSOL, MATLAB and Python, and contribute to early-stage R&D across acoustics and electromagnetics.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Applied Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Affinity with simulation and modeling via thesis work, internships, or projects (COMSOL, MATLAB, Python).
• Interest in acoustics, electromagnetics, or miniature product design.
• Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn design for manufacture.
• Communicating effectively across technical backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of electromagnetic and acoustic simulation models for miniature transducers and components.
• Translate theoretical models into practical measurement setups and prototype verification.
• Perform research, analyses, and benchmarks on competing technologies and products.
• Work closely with senior engineers on complex assignments within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Contribute to concept generation and evaluation based on a design challenge.

Job description

As a Junior Simulation Engineer, you play a key role in the development of miniature electromechanical products. You work on both technical detail and system-level integration, using simulation to bring new product concepts to a feasible design. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to build hands-on simulation experience on real, physical products from day one.

Your tasks and responsibilities

You work in project teams on the development of products and are mostly involved in the early stages of the product development process. Working alongside senior engineers, you build a strong foundation in simulation-driven product development. Responsibilities will include:

• Support the development of electromagnetic and acoustic simulation models (for example in COMSOL Multiphysics) for miniature transducers and components
• Help translate theoretical models into practical measurement setups and prototype build verification
• Perform research, analyses, and benchmarks on competing technologies and products
• Work closely with senior engineers on complex assignments within multidisciplinary project teams
• Contribute to concept generation and evaluation based on an idea or design challenge

Your profile

You have recently completed, or are about to complete, a Master's or PhD degree, and you are eager to apply your simulation and modeling skills to real physical products. The high level of uncertainty in early-phase R&D does not scare you off. You are curious, hands-on, and communicate effectively with people from different technical backgrounds. Other qualities we ask for are:
