Job summary

Saxion in the Netherlands seeks a Junior Researcher in Quantum Sensing to help translate lab quantum sensors into real-world maritime use. You will work on NV-centre-based sensors using ODMR, develop optical and opto-electronic setups, run experiments and analyse data with project partners.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics or related field, curiosity, and hands-on mindset. Full-time position with development paths at Saxion Academy and competitive cao-hbo salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in applied physics, photonics, or related field.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for technology and innovation.
• Affinity for experimental research, sensor technology and quantum sensing.
• Experience with ODMR, NV centres, Python, data analysis, optics, electronics or hardware development is an advantage.
• Independent and pragmatic approach to translate research into prototypes and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and optimise NV-centre-based quantum sensors for maritime applications.
• Assist in development of optical and opto-electronic measurement set-ups and carry out experiments.
• Help analyse measurement data and improve measurement reliability and noise reduction.
• Collaborate with researchers and project partners to demonstrate feasibility of quantum sensing.
