Role Description

This full‑time, on‑site Junior Mechanical/Naval Engineer role is based in Doetinchem. The engineer supports the design and development of dredging vessels and mechanical systems, preparing and updating CAD models and technical drawings under the guidance of senior engineers. Day‑to‑day tasks include assisting with mechanical calculations, component selection, and integration of systems, as well as supporting inspections and tests of equipment during assembly and commissioning. The role also involves collaborating with production, procurement, and service teams to address design issues, maintenance considerations, and customer requirements. The engineer documents work clearly, follows relevant standards, and contributes to continuous improvement of products and processes.

Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering skills, including basic mechanical design, understanding of materials, and familiarity with marine or naval applications.
  • Proficiency in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical and vessel structures.
  • Maintenance‑related skills, including understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance principles for mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspection skills for reviewing parts, assemblies, and installations to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Exposure to Automotive or similar machinery sectors, providing practical insight into mechanical systems, drivetrains, and industrial equipment.
  • Relevant technical degree (e.g., Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering standards, with strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Basic knowledge of control systems or automation for industrial or marine equipment is an advantage.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues.
  • Good command of English; Dutch or German language skills are beneficial for collaboration with local teams and suppliers.
