Van Oord in Rotterdam is seeking a Hydraulic Design Engineer to contribute to flood protection and infrastructure projects from tender to execution. You design integrated solutions balancing safety, sustainability and feasibility, while collaborating with geotechnics, hydrology, ecology and construction experts.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or comparable field.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience as a designer, engineer or modeller within civil engineering, hydraulic engineering or infrastructure.
• Affinity with flood protection, water safety and complex earth structures.
• Interest in sustainability, ecology and innovative design methods.
• Proficiency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Design projects balancing safety, sustainability, feasibility and innovation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated designs.
• Prepare design reports and substantiations and present to clients.
• Coordinate interfaces with geotechnical, ecological and construction disciplines.
• Contribute to innovative solutions such as low emission construction and nature-inclusive designs.

• A completed Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or a comparable field.

• Design dikes, flood defences, earth structures and hydraulic engineering solutions.
• Translate project requirements, safety standards and specialist advice into integrated designs.
• Coordinate design interfaces with geotechnical, ecological and construction disciplines.
• Optimise designs for safety, sustainability, constructability and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to innovative solutions such as low emission construction, circular materials and nature inclusive designs.

You prepare design reports and technical substantiations and contribute to discussions with clients and project teams throughout every stage of the project.
