Job summary

Albert Heijn is seeking a Junior Data Scientist for the Merchandising and Sourcing domain within the Data Science & Analytics department in the Netherlands.

You will build data science products, design experiments, and help decide on shelf space and product promotions across millions of customers daily. The role involves collaboration with category managers, engineers, and analysts, in a fast-moving retail environment.

Qualifications

• Master in Data Science or related field and strong analytical skills.
• At least 2 years of experience as Data Scientist in eCommerce or similar.
• Ability to explain complex matters to varied audiences.
• Advanced experience in Python and Spark.
• Experience in productionizing solutions based on packaged code, not notebooks.
• Cloud platforms experience (Azure Databricks) and visualization tools is a plus.
• Based in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Build data science products and design experiments to test and validate effectiveness.
• Continuously improve model performance following CI/CD best practices.
• Convey complex ideas to different audiences in an effective manner.
• Join the Data Science Team during scrum rituals and write code.
• Work in multidisciplinary product teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
