Job description

Junior Communications & PR Officer (32 hours per week)

Do you want to use communication to contribute to a more sustainable world? And would you enjoy bringing the stories behind innovative architecture to light?

At Paul de Ruiter Architects, you aren't just working for an architecture firm; sustainability is in our DNA. We are constantly seeking innovative, sustainable solutions to architectural challenges - creating buildings that are not only beautiful and functional but also add value to their surroundings and contribute to a better future. As a Junior Communications and PR Officer, you will help showcase these projects, ideas, and ambitions. You don't need years of experience for this role; we are primarily looking for someone who is curious and creative, organized, and eager to grow professionally.

What will you be doing?
  • You will work closely with the projects and the people behind them. You'll discover what's happening and which stories are worth telling, ensuring they reach the outside world.
  • You will keep our website up to date, gather news and imagery from projects, and create content for LinkedIn and Instagram. You will coordinate photography, assist with PR for new and ongoing projects, and contribute ideas on how we can tell our story even more effectively.
  • There is plenty of room for your own ideas. If you spot an opportunity for a great story, a new way to showcase a project, or a topic we should address, we'd love to hear about it.
Making an impact while learning a lot

You will work alongside an experienced communications and PR advisor and a communications strategist who help shape the firm’s communication strategy and provide guidance in your work. You will also have 40 great colleagues who are happy to introduce you to the world of architecture. Working here means taking on significant responsibility from the start, while also having people around you from whom you can learn. You'll have the space to discover your strengths and further develop your skills in communications, content creation, and PR. Plus, you'll be working on a subject that truly matters. After all, the built environment has a major impact on the world we live in. Through your communication, you help highlight sustainable and innovative solutions and inspire others with them.

Who are we looking for?

  • You are either just starting out or have a few years of work experience. A background in communications is a plus but certainly not a requirement; you might well come from the worlds of architecture, culture, media, design, or another creative field.
  • More importantly, we are looking for someone who:
  • Has strong writing skills and a good eye for visuals;
  • Is well-versed in social media and online communication;
  • Is curious and proactive in coming up with ideas;
  • Works in an organized way and gets things done;
  • Finds it easy to connect with a wide range of people;
  • Is interested in architecture, innovation, and sustainability;
  • Is eager to learn and willing to take responsibility.
What do we offer?

A varied role where you can learn a great deal and make a tangible contribution to the ambitions of a sustainable architecture firm.
