Job summary

X4 Engineering is seeking an IT/OT Specialist in Utrecht, Netherlands, with up to 50% travel across Europe. You will bridge IT and OT for critical sites, leading projects, and acting as the technical lead for clients.

Responsibilities include designing network architectures, configuring IT equipment, conducting design reviews, on-site commissioning, and cost estimation. Strong English and 3+ years’ experience are required; Dutch or other European languages are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ professional experience.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, switching and VLANs.
• Industrial protocols: Modbus, Profinet or EtherNet/IP.
• Network security: firewalls, ACLs and secure remote access.
• Cisco, Juniper or similar.
• Linux and Windows server administration.
• VMware or Hyper‑V.
• Confidence with clients, and the ability to explain technical issues to anyone.
• Professional English (C1 or above).

IT/OT Specialist | Utrecht, Netherlands + European travel

The company

My client is a global, independent automation systems integrator with a growing European team. They design, build and support the control systems behind large industrial and mission-critical sites, such as data centres, pharmaceutical plants, manufacturing facilities and critical infrastructure.

The role

You’ll connect business IT with the operational technology (OT) that runs these sites, making sure it’s secure, reliable and high-performing. You’ll work on projects from start to finish and act as the technical lead for clients.
