Job summary

ING is offering an internship in Wholesale Banking Finance aimed at finance-conscious students. You will translate complex financial data into actionable insights and support strategic decision-making across Lending, Transaction Services, Capital Markets & Advisory, and Financial Markets.

You will work with senior stakeholders, gain exposure to management reporting, forecasting and budgeting, and develop skills in data analytics, Python or R, and stakeholder management in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (business level).
• Strong communicator with the ability to translate insights for different audiences.
• Analytical and structured thinker who can work with complex data.
• Hands-on with data, from exploration to insight generation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to 2-3 WB Finance projects across Lending, Transaction Services, CMA, FM, Sectors and Global Management Information & Reporting.
• Embed within a Finance Business Advice team to gain hands-on experience with management reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
• Analyze business performance and provide insights to senior stakeholders across ING Wholesale Banking.

As an intern within Wholesale Banking Finance, you will help translate complex financial and business data into actionable insights that support ING's growth ambitions. You will work alongside experienced finance professionals and gain exposure to senior stakeholders across Wholesale Banking, Treasury, Risk, and the business.

The Team

Finance Business Advice (FBA) is at the heart of Wholesale Banking (WB), supporting ING's key business domains, including Lending Services (LS), Transaction Services (TS), Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA), Financial Markets (FM), Sectors, and Global Management Information & Reporting. We act as the financial sparring partner to senior management, providing insights and analysis that drive performance, support strategic decision-making, and help shape the future direction of the business.

Our teams are responsible for management information, forecasting, budgeting, financial steering, and strategic planning across Wholesale Banking. In addition, we support high-priority transformation initiatives that are critical to the future growth and success of the business.

You will join a highly international and collaborative environment and work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Business, Treasury, Risk, Strategy, Data & Analytics, and Operations, providing a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the full value chain of a global bank.

Role and Responsibilties

This internship offers a unique opportunity to combine curiosity, analytical thinking, and technical skills to help drive business performance and strategic decision-making across ING Wholesale Banking.

During your internship, you will contribute to 2-3 projects across different areas of Wholesale Banking Finance, covering topics such as Lending, Transaction Services, Capital Markets & Advisory, Financial Markets, Sectors, and Global Management Information & Reporting. These projects will give you exposure to key business priorities while helping you develop a broad understanding of how a global bank steers growth, profitability, and balance sheet resources.

Alongside your project work, you will be embedded within one of the Finance Business Advice teams and gain hands-on experience with management reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business performance analysis. You will work closely with experienced finance professionals and international stakeholders across Finance and the business, gaining valuable insight into the financial and strategic decisions that shape Wholesale Banking.
