Job summary

ABN AMRO is seeking an intern for the Sustainability Risk team to help manage ESG risks and related data. You will assist on topics such as materiality assessment, biodiversity policy, heatmapping, data sourcing, and regulatory implementation.

The role requires you to be a BSc/MSc student, available for ~6 months, and proficient in English with Dutch preferred. A laptop is provided and the internship offers a hybrid work model with social activities and coaching.

  • Knowledge of or affinity with ESG risks.
  • Curious and analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, communicative, independent; able to take initiative.

The Sustainability Risk team is part of the Risk Management function and responsible for managing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) related risks ABN AMRO is exposed to. We work closely together with experts from across the bank and with sustainability specialists from outside the bank to co-create and fulfil data needs. Our team consists of senior and junior professionals with a mix of knowledge and skills in the field of ESG, risk management and data.

Are you interested in developing analytical skills related to climate, pollution, biodiversity, human rights or animal rights risks? You will become part of the Sustainability Risk team and will provide support on one or more topics the team is working on. Just a number of examples:

  • Translate developments in science and societal issues into actions for the bank
  • Support the evaluation of the materiality of ESG events on the bank’s profitability and reputation
  • Policy requirements to limit biodiversity loss for our lending activities
  • Transition or physical risk heatmapping
  • Enhancing ESG sector and country rating methodologies

Your profile?
  • You are a Bsc / Msc Student
  • You are available for approximately 6 months
  • Knowledge of or affinity with environmental, social and governance related risks
  • Curious and analytical at heart: you are eager to learn about new topics and your analytical skills are well developed: you are able to identify, deconstruct and solve problems
  • Proactive, communicative and independent: you take initiatives to solve issues and are not shy to give your opinion and to ask for assistance This document is classified as Secret by ABN AMRO
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a must; professional working proficiency (especially spoken) in Dutch is strongly preferred
  • Team-player: you can easily reach out to and collaborate with colleagues, either helping them out or requesting assistance. You are interested to get to know the people in the team.
