Job description

Internship/Master Project: Perovskite Nano-Resonators for Optical Neuromorphic Computing

Mixed-halide perovskite nano-resonators offer a promising platform for highly responsive tunable elements for advanced photonic applications. This project focuses on fabricating and characterizing mixed-halide perovskite nanostructures whose optical behavior can be changed through controlled halide segregation. You will pattern and synthesize nano-resonator arrays, measure their optical responses, and evaluate their suitability for light-driven operations relevant to neuromorphic computing and optical memory. The goal is to establish perovskite resonators as versatile building blocks for next-generation optical computing and integrated photonics, enabling fast, energy-efficient information processing.

Responsibilities
  • Pattern and synthesize nano-resonator arrays.
  • Measure optical responses of the fabricated nanostructures.
  • Evaluate suitability of the nano-resonators for light-driven operations in neuromorphic computing and optical memory.
  • Contribute to the development of perovskite resonators as building blocks for optical computing.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • Nationality of an EU member state or a student at a university in the Netherlands.
  • Internship is a mandatory part of your curriculum.
  • Availability for at least five months, longer preferred.
Work Environment and Conditions

The internship is conducted at AMOLF, part of NWO-I, focusing on research in complex matter physics and functional materials. You will work with the Nanoscale Solar Cells group, which synthesizes advanced nanostructures and integrates them into novel device structures.

Hours and schedule will be defined at the start of the traineeship in consultation with your supervisor.
