AMOLF in Amsterdam is offering a research internship/matter project in developing Intensity-Modulated Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (IMPLS) for perovskite solar cells. A research internship focused on developing Intensity-Modulated Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (IMPLS) as a diagnostic tool for perovskite solar cells.
Our lab is developing IMPLS, a technique that probes the dynamical electronic and ionic behavior of perovskite materials purely optically. In this project you will explore IMPLS to study perovskite solar cells. By performing temperature‑dependent IMPLS measurements across a broad frequency range, you will extract characteristic timescales of slow processes and analyze them to estimate activation energies associated with ion migration or trap‑related processes. The outcome is to establish temperature‑dependent IMPLS as a powerful diagnostic tool to identify the underlying dynamic processes and provide deeper insight into mechanisms that affect performance and stability.
You are currently enrolled in a Master’s program in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field. You have a nationality of an EU‑member state or are a student at a university in the Netherlands. The internship must be part of your curriculum. Availability for at least 5 months (longer preferable).

The Hybrid Solar Cell Group researches next‑generation solar cells with hybrid materials like metal halide perovskites. We develop a deep understanding of material properties and their impact on device performance. Our focus is improving the stability of perovskite solar cells, addressing ion migration, and exploring new applications like memory devices.
At the start of the traineeship your trainee plan will be set out in consultation with your AMOLF supervisor.
