Job summary

HEINEKEN in Amsterdam invites interns to join the Sustainable Production team to strengthen energy and water benchmarking models. You will help improve and digitalize benchmarking tools, collaborate with Brewing, Packaging and Engineering, and contribute to clearer documentation and future tool versions.

The internship is full-time for six months with hybrid working options, starting 16 July 2026, and includes a monthly fee of €650 gross plus two vacation days per month.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering or alike.
  • Passion for sustainability, improving efficiency of operations and making an impact on global scale.
  • Knowledge of energy and mass balance, modeling tools/software, management of Excel / Power BI and statistics.

Responsibilities

  • Continuing the calculation model for the benchmarking model in a digital format.
  • Supporting the developer as Business Owner for the digitalization of the benchmarking model.
  • Interact with other departments (Brewing, Packaging, Engineering) and different regional stakeholders to define the future state of the benchmarking tools.
  • Improving the documentation regarding the available benchmarking models.
  • Start the development of future versions of the benchmarking tools available.

The internship

HEINEKEN committed to becoming net zero carbon by 2030 (scope 1&2) and to reduce its water usage significantly. To reach our goals, we use detailed benchmarking for utilities (Energy & Water) usage and aim to enhance this further. During this internship, you will be working on improving the understanding of the current benchmarking tools and start the process of simplifying/improving the benchmarking models available.

In this internship you will be responsible for:

  • Continuing the calculation model for the benchmarking model in a digital format.
  • Supporting the developer as Business Owner for the digitalization of the benchmarking model.

The department

The Sustainable Production department (part of Global Production, Supply Chain) consists of a multidisciplinary team, working on different subjects of sustainability of our operations such as water and energy usage, decarbonization, wastewater management and reporting. The team is made up of professionals from different countries, expertise and academic background with all one goal to make our operations more sustainable

The terms of employment
  • Your starting date is 16 July 2026
  • The internship is full time
  • The duration of the internship is 6 months
  • It is a practice-oriented internship
  • You will be based in Amsterdam
  • During your internship, you have the flexibility to workin a hybrid setup
  • You will receive an internship fee of €650 gross pm based on 40 hours per week
  • You will enjoy 2 vacation days per month (based on full time)
  • If you do not have a student OV product, your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed

Conditions of HEINEKEN
  • You are enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of your internship and can provide proof of enrollment for the current academic year during your onboarding.
  • In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution.
  • In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
  • You reside in the Netherlands for the entire duration of your internship. Please note that HEINEKEN does not provide housing.
  • You are in possession of a valid citizen service number (BSN).
