Job summary

Adyen in Amsterdam is seeking an Internal Control Specialist focused on financial risks and controls. You will join the global Internal Control team and help strengthen financial processes while enabling controlled growth.

The role requires independence in a global environment and a base-level understanding of risk management. You will work across cultures, participate in audits, and drive improvements and automation as part of the Adyen Formula values.

Internal Control Specialist - Finance

Adyen is looking for an Internal Control Specialist with a focus on financial risks and controls in our Amsterdam office. You will join the global Internal Control team, which contributes to power Adyen’s sustainable growth. You have base-level knowledge of risk management and internal control and have the ability and eagerness to operate independently in a global environment.

You will mainly focus on assessing and strengthening Adyen’s global financial and reporting processes and controls to meet internal and external expectations and to enable controlled growth. We work as a team across cultures and time zones, and you will support the company in building a great business, preserving the company culture and achieving its long‑term goals by taking our risk management to the next level.

What you’ll do:

• Strengthen the internal control framework and support management with internal control matters.
• Evaluate Adyen’s financial and reporting processes and controls to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Perform independent review and testing of controls.
• Identify and evaluate control deficiencies.
• Manage requests from auditors to ensure successful audit cycles (e.g. SOC1/SOC2 audits).
• Create a network and be an advisor for the business.
• Collaborate with your peers from the Internal Control team in managing the global internal control framework and contribute to various projects.

Who you are:

• Approximately 4–7 years of relevant experience in external audit, risk management, or internal control.
• Basic knowledge of internal control design, testing, and deficiency evaluation.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Eager to drive change in an innovative, fast‑evolving financial technology environment.
• Thrive in a fast‑paced, unstructured environment, challenge the status quo, and take a can‑do approach.
