Job summary

Adyen in Amsterdam is seeking a Regional Financial Controller to join our Group Finance team. You will oversee general ledger across global entities, drive month-end close, and ensure compliance while redesigning processes with automation.

You will partner with tax and regulatory teams, prepare financial statements, support audits, and deliver ad-hoc reporting for stakeholders. This role emphasizes automation, end-to-end process improvement, and working in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in financial control, accounting, and external audit (Big 4 a plus).
• Analytical mindset with ability to work independently and ask for help when needed.
• Experience in branch accounting valued; professional qualifications considered advantageous.
• Track record in process optimization and automation; familiarity with ERP systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and think ahead to scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

Regional Financial Controller

Adyen is looking for a Regional Financial Controller to join our Group Finance team in Amsterdam. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to challenge the status quo, who gets truly excited to re-imagine processes from the ground up.

In this role, you will partner, validate and drive financial excellence across our global footprint. Rather than focusing on routine data production, you will have the mandate to redesign leverage automation and modern tooling to enable a continuous and low-touch close while maintaining a control environment.

At Adyen we like to build things ourselves - in this team you will play a key role in applying out-of-the box solutions to improve control and streamline ways of working.

What you’ll do

• Oversee the general ledger for various global entities and branches, navigating complexities ranging from moderate to high;
• Execute and validate month-end close workflows, including the review of reconciliations for fixed assets, prepayments, and accruals, while managing routine journal entries;
• Collaborate with Adyen’s regulatory teams to facilitate accurate reporting and maintain strict adherence to all compliance timelines;
• Partner with tax teams to support filings and provisioning by coordinating with external advisors and consolidating required financial data;
• Draft financial statements and interface with auditors to ensure a seamless audit cycle, proactively resolving technical queries as they arise;
• Address diverse ad-hoc reporting requirements from stakeholders across the organization.
• Continuously upskill others (GL accountants & other Controllers) on core processes to build a shared understanding of end-to-end processes.
• Partner with FinOps and Financial Data Teams (FDT) to optimize core accounting processes, leveraging automation tools (such as Workday Accounting Center and Workiva)

Who you are

• Minimum of 5+ years experience in financial control, accounting, and external audit (Big 4 experience is a strong plus);
• You have an analytical mindset and proactively identify challenges and be able to work independently but never afraid to ask for help;
• Experience in Branch accounting is highly valued; professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, or RA are considered a significant advantage;
• Track record in process optimization and automation. Experience with Workday, Workday Accounting Center, Workiva, or similar ERP systems is a plus;
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to prioritise;
• Able to think 2 steps ahead. We are looking for someone that can think critically and creatively to implement solutions to scale during Adyen’s rapid growth.
