KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is seeking an experienced professional to strengthen its Internal Control Framework (ICF) within Corporate Control. You will work with Business Units and Transavia to improve ICF processes, risk identification, controls design, and ESG reporting across the organisation.
You will collaborate with Internal Control Coordinators, report to the Director of IFRS & Internal Control, and drive testing, assessments and follow-up on audit findings.
You will improve KLM’s internal control environment by working closely with KLM’s Business Units. You will help the Business Units improve the efficiency, standardisation and quality of Internal Control over Financial Reporting and Internal Control over Sustainability (ESG) Reporting, and provide support on compliance matters. KLM has a framework for internal control activities, known as the Internal Control Framework (ICF).
You will work closely with the Internal Control Coordinators of KLM’s divisions and Business Units, as well as Transavia.
Together with three colleagues, you will take on the challenge of strengthening KLM’s internal control as a key component of the “In Control Statement” issued by the KLM Board in the KLM Group annual report. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into every part of KLM’s business. You will also provide internal control expertise and support across KLM, and assess the design and operating effectiveness of the controls that KLM business management has implemented under its own responsibility to address identified risks.
Internal Control is evolving rapidly and, as part of the “Fundamentals Right” objective, is a key priority for what the Finance function at KLM aims to achieve. You will help make this development a shared success for both the Business and Finance.
Key responsibilities:
You’ll join a dynamic, international team within the Corporate Control department, where you’ll work alongside colleagues with expertise in Internal Control. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to develop both personally and professionally. You’ll work closely with your Internal Control team and report to the Director of IFRS & Internal Control.
You have experience in internal control and know how to set priorities. You can analyse complex topics and take an organised, business-aware approach to achieving the best results. You value transparency and structure, and you’re proactive and hands-on. You’re excellent at building and maintaining relationships with people at all levels. You also take initiative and are able to see the bigger picture when it comes to business processes.
