Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. invites a motivated student in their final year of Master or Bachelor studies in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Life Sciences to join the Discovery and Technology Research Vaccine Formulation team.

You will contribute to liposomal vaccine formulations, learn DLS-based characterization, and explore new ingredients under supervision. The internship offers hands-on experience in a global pharma setting, with training, collaboration across departments, and a monthly gross

Qualifications

• Last year of Master/Bachelor in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Life Sciences.
• Basic understanding of cell biology and/or immunology preferred.
• Excellent Dutch and/or English communication, written and verbal.
• Available for at least 6 months, full-time (5 days/week).

Responsibilities

• Develop liposomal formulations for DNA vaccine delivery.
• Vary ingredient ratios and explore new components with different immunological profiles.
• Prepare lipid nanoparticles and perform physical characterization (DLS).
• Determine DNA encapsulation efficiency for liposomal systems.
• Optionally extend the internship to immunological characterization in cell-based assays.
