Job summary

GEHECO is a Dutch startup pioneering a drill tool to place wells for water-heat pumps from inside homes. We are seeking a technical intern in electronics and controls in Delft.

You will design sensors and control electronics using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and related hardware, develop a data platform, test prototypes, and collaborate in a small team to drive the project forward with pragmatic, hands-on thinking.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrotechnical engineering, informatics, or related technical fields as embedded software engineer (HBO, bachelor).
• Passion for building working prototypes and solving problems.
• Ability to connect control devices to sensors and electric drives using Arduino/Raspberry Pi or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of relevant programming languages and hardware; comfortable with soldering and debugging software.

Responsibilities

• Design and create sensors and control electronics; develop hardware and software for automatic drill control.
• Create a data platform to gather and analyse data from the site via wireless sources.
• Test prototypes and participate in frequent tests to validate designs.

Job description

GEHECO is a start-up which focusses on laying the wells for water-water heat pumps in existing houses. In order to do so, we are designing a revolutionary new drill tool that is able to place the well, ultimately from within the home.

The location of the drill head during the drilling process is important for both the drilling as well as the logging afterwards. The location should be available in the three dimensional space underground. Position: technical intern electronics and controls

Key Responsibilities / What you will do:

• Design and create sensors and control electronics; pragmatically create the control components and sensors (hardware) that allow the drill to be controlled automatically. Make the software to do the control. You will use Arduino’s, raspberry Pi’s etc to do so. You will devise sensors and electronics for the drilling process.
• Create a data platform to gather and analyse data. Gathering data shall be done wireless from different sources on the construction site.
• Test prototypes; you participate in frequent tests in order to validate your designs and designs other team mates come up with.
• Collaboration; we are a small team where every individual counts. We need your analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to improve our product and drive our projects forward.
• Engage in problem-solving exercises, learn by doing on a daily basis and contribute fresh perspectives to the development of the GEHECO product.

What you bring:

• You are a pragmatic and enthusiastic individual pursuing a degree in Electrotechnical engineering, informatics, or related technical fields as embedded software engineer. (HBO, bachelor / electrical engineering)
• Passion for making things work. Your practical talent to create a real, working prototype is what counts most in this assignment. You have a passion for making stuff work. Being able to analyze your work and come up with rapid solutions to improve it.
• Pragmatism; what works works. Solutions do not have to be perfect, you need to be able to build control devices using Arduino, raspberry Pi, or similar platforms which actually connect to sensors and electric drives.
• Skills; You have to have knowledge of relevant software and hardware, and are not scared of soldering as well as debugging software code.
• Digital skills; you need sufficient knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools
• You are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands (EU resident or work permit)

Your personality:

• You are flexible and able to cope with the uncertainties (and freedom!) of working at a start-up. Plans may change overnight; structures are not yet firmly in place. You need to deliver on the goal, but how you do it is very much up to you.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
