Job summary

Major, Lindsey & Africa is seeking an experienced interim Legal Counsel – Payments & Regulatory in Amsterdam. The role focuses on payments regulation, product development and fintech expansion across Europe.

Ideal candidates are qualified lawyers with in-house or top-law-firm fintech exposure, strong PSD2 knowledge and proven ability to negotiate complex agreements with senior stakeholders. This is a 6-12 month interim assignment with hybrid working in Amsterdam, ASAP start, offering broad

Qualifications

Qualified lawyer in a European jurisdiction (UK/Dutch or EU).
In-house or top-tier law firm experience in financial services.
Strong knowledge of PSD2 and EU regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

Advise on payments and banking regulatory matters across the EU.
Support launch and enhancement of payments, accounts and embedding banking products.
Interpret PSD2, Payment Services Regulations, E‑Money rules and related regulation.
Review, draft and negotiate customer, supplier, outsourcing and partnerships agreements.
Provide legal support on onboarding and ongoing management of payment clients.
Collaborate with product, compliance, risk and operations to mitigate risk.
Support regulatory engagement and implementation of new European rules.
Assist with cross-border projects and expansion across Europe.
Manage external counsel where required.
