Job summary

RIVM in the Netherlands seeks a scientist specializing in infectious disease modeling to turn mathematical and statistical analyses into public health impact. You will study the spread of sexually transmitted infections and other pathogens, informing national policy and outbreak responses from the Department for Infectious Disease Modelling.

You will publish methodological advances and collaborate with international partners, epidemiologists, microbiologists, health economists, and policy

Qualifications

• PhD in quantitative or life sciences fields such as physics, applied mathematics, computer science, mathematical biology, bioinformatics, or infectious disease epidemiology.
• Proven track record in infectious disease modeling with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Proficiency in modern statistical methods and programming, preferably R.

Responsibilities

• Develop and run models to study infection dynamics and evaluate control measures.
• Analyze surveillance and behavioral data to inform national public health policy in the Netherlands.
• Collaborate across disciplines and publish methodological advances in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Communicate findings to national and international audiences.
