Job summary

ViCentra in Utrecht, Netherlands is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop software for our medical devices, from concept through scale manufacturing. You’ll work across architecture, prototyping, manufacturing equipment, testing, and release to deliver safe, effective embedded software used by patients every day.

You’ll collaborate with software quality and regulatory teams, write clear documentation, and stay current with advances in RTOS, BLE, Python, and hardware

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software or computer engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven embedded programming experience in C.
• Experience testing embedded software (unit and integration).
• Proven track record of delivering work in a timely fashion.
• Strong technical writing skills and documentation.
• Fluency in English.
• Curiosity and a proactive mindset toward learning new technologies and regulations.
• Experience with RTOS (Zephyr a plus).
• Experience across development stages including architecture, testing and release.
• Experience with PCB design, Python, Arduino or BLE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software design projects from concept to production, helping deliver on time and on budget.
• Prototype, test, and report throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Develop requirements, specifications, and software testing plans and protocols.
• Implement coding solutions aligned to design specifications using modern technologies.
• Participate in peer code reviews to maintain code quality.
• Perform verification and validation activities and complete release documentation.
• Communicate clearly with management, peers, and vendors.
• Stay current with scientific and technical developments to support a best-in-class software environment.
