Job summary

Allseas Group S.A. is seeking a Heavy Lift Engineer to deliver technical lift solutions, write operational procedures and support offshore projects.

You will design topsides and lift plans, manage destruct zones and conductor removal, and provide client design input. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, interface with vessel crews, clients and certifying authorities, and coach junior engineers while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering (or closely related field).
  • At least 3 years of project-related experience, preferably in Heavy Lifting, Equipment Engineering, Transportation & Installation.
  • Affinity with offshore and marine environment is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch language knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer safe, reliable, and innovative lift solutions and procedures.
  • Provide offshore support and interact with project team, vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, and authorities.
  • Prepare documentation for project approvals including calculations, method statements, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of disciplines and integrate cross-functional inputs.
  • Coach and supervise junior and medior team members.
  • Interface with various disciplines to define efficient, cost-effective solutions and ongoing engineering support.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in equipment for installation operations.

Job description

As a Heavy Lift Engineer you will have a wide range of tasks covering the provision of technical solutions as well as writing operational procedures and provision of offshore support. This includes: design of topsides and jacket lift plans, destruct zones, (subsea) separation scopes, conductor removal, load transfer operations, platform preparations, crane operation and associated rigging, provision of client design input.

As heavy lift engineer you are responsible for:

  • Design and engineering: provision of solutions to facilitate the project with safe, reliable and innovative designs and procedures;
  • Support and stakeholder management: Working in a multi-disciplinary team environment aligning your work with the project engineer and the various stakeholders. Contribute to departmental development. Provision of offshore support during project execution on vessel or yard;
  • Documentation for approval: Preparation of documentation for projects covering the technical solutions, calculations, method statements and operational procedures ensuring they meet safety, performance and regulatory standards for class and/or client approval;
  • In more detail, we expect you to have In-depth understanding of concepts and principles within your discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines;
  • You should have good analytical skills and weigh up aspects thoroughly in complicated or novel situations. You set an example to others by drawing conclusions based on criteria, facts and previous experiences;
  • You will provide coaching and supervising for junior and medior team members
  • Interface with various disciplines (project team, vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, certification authorities, marine warranty surveyor) to define efficient and cost effective solutions and provide ongoing engineering support;
  • Keep your knowledge up to date with the development of specialised equipment for installation operations.
What we expect from you

To qualify for the position of Heavy Lift Engineer, you should recognize yourself in most of the following requirements:

  • You hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering (or a closely related field);
  • You have at least 3 years of project related experience, preferably in a similar discipline or role (Heavy Lifting, Equipment Engineering, Transportation & Installation...)
  • Affinity with the offshore and marine environment is a big plus
  • You have an analitycal and problem solving mindset
  • You can zoom out to see the biger picture and bring different disciplines together when necessary (Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture...)
  • Occationally, you are willing to travel and work offshore (3 to 4 weeks per year)
  • You are willing to dive deep into your field and become an absolute expert in your area
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus
