Job summary

Brightsmith in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior HSE Advisor to lead health, safety and environmental performance on a flagship construction project. This permanent, on-site role places you at the front line, coordinating with contractors, project leadership and authorities to uphold the highest safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of HSE experience on Dutch construction projects, fluent Dutch and English, and familiarity with RAMS and Dutch regulations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' HSE experience on construction projects in the Netherlands.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch HSE legislation and compliance.
• Experience with Dutch authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Fluent Dutch and English.
• Experience leading on-site as the lead HSE representative.

Responsibilities

• Lead HSE activities across a major live construction project.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Review RAMS, risk assessments and method statements.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Ensure contractor compliance with Dutch HSE legislation.
• Liaise with project teams and Dutch authorities.
• Promote a positive safety culture on site.

Are you an experienced HSE professional looking to join a major construction project where you'll play a key role in driving safety performance from the front line?

We're supporting a leading international inspection and assurance organisation in the appointment of a Senior HSE Advisor for a flagship construction project based full-time in Amsterdam.

This is a permanent opportunity offering the chance to work as the lead HSE representative on site, partnering with contractors, project leadership and stakeholders to deliver the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead HSE activities across a major live construction project
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations
• Review RAMS, risk assessments and method statements
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings
• Ensure contractor compliance with Dutch HSE legislation
• Liaise with project teams and relevant Dutch authorities where required
• Promote a positive safety culture across site

We're looking for professionals with:

• 5+ years' HSE experience on construction projects within the Netherlands
• Strong understanding of Dutch HSE legislation
• Experience working with Dutch authorities and regulatory bodies
• Fluent Dutch and English
• MVK or HVK qualification preferred
• Experience working independently as the lead HSE representative
• Data centre or mission-critical construction experience is advantageous, although candidates from infrastructure, industrial, pharmaceutical, utilities and major commercial construction are also encouraged to apply.
