Job summary

Conscious Hotels in Amsterdam seeks a Head of Technical Services to drive maintenance across Hotel V locations while balancing leadership with hands-on technical work. You will respond quickly to breakdowns, oversee repairs, and safeguard the quality of all technical tasks, ensuring minimal impact on guests and operations.

The role requires several years in technical services or facilities engineering, with independent problem-solving and a focus on high-end hotel standards.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in technical services or facilities engineering.
• Able to independently handle breakdowns and maintenance.
• Experience in luxury hotels is preferred.
• Based in or near Amsterdam; able to work 32–40 hours per week.
• Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical services team—switching between locations, leadership, and technical work.
• Coordinate breakdowns, repairs, and maintenance; step in when needed.
• Be consistently visible on the floor, think ahead, stay proactive, and keep operations running smoothly.
• Act as sparring partner for hotel managers with short lines and fast decisions.
• Plan, execute, and coordinate major maintenance across all Hotel V locations.

In our hotels, hospitality is at the heart of everything we do, but that only works when everything behind the scenes runs perfectly. As Head of Technical Services, you are the driving force ensuring our locations run smoothly. You are responsible for the technical maintenance of our Hotels by playing a key role in overseeing maintenance across all Hotel V locations.

You are not only a coordinator but also a hands-on technical specialist. You respond quickly to breakdowns, carry out repairs yourself when needed, and safeguard the quality of all technical work. Together with your team, you ensure technical issues have minimal impact on our guests and operations.

What you will do:

• Lead the technical services team - switching between locations, leadership, and technical work;

• Breakdowns, repairs, and maintenance? You coordinate them and step in yourself when needed;

• Always visible on the floor: thinking ahead, staying proactive, and keeping everything running;

• Act as a sparring partner for hotel managers - short lines, fast decision-making;

• Major maintenance across all Hotel V locations? You keep planning, execution, and coordination tightly under control.

About you:

• An experienced Technical Services professional ready for the next step, or a Head of Technical Services looking for a new challenge in a dynamic hotel environment;

• You have several years of experience in technical services or facilities engineering and know how to independently handle breakdowns and maintenance;

• Experience in electrical engineering is a plus;

• Attention to detail comes naturally to you - you work in luxury hotels with high guest expectations, so finish and quality really matter;

• Available for 32-40 hours per week and flexible when operations require it;

• Preferably based in (or near) Amsterdam.

• Travel allowance based on the distance between home and work (min. 15 km);
