Job summary

SBM Offshore N.V. is seeking an Engineering Department Manager – System Design to lead a multidisciplinary team of about 230 professionals across the Company\'s offshore energy projects. You will drive engineering excellence, workforce planning and strategic capability development.

The role requires deep experience in oil & gas project environments, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering safe, high-quality system designs while fostering collaboration across locations and disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• 15+ years of engineering experience in oil & gas or similar complex projects.
• 8+ years of leadership experience leading large multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven track record in resource planning, organizational development and talent management.
• Experience with large-scale capital projects and complex stakeholder environments.
• Experience driving organizational change and engineering transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the System Design Department (~230 professionals) through 6 Discipline Managers.
• Provide leadership, coaching and direction to Discipline Managers.
• Ensure effective integration and collaboration between engineering disciplines for optimized designs.
• Own workforce planning, resource allocation, capability development, recruitment and succession planning.
• Balance project delivery with long-term capability building and resource optimization.
• Oversee engineering quality, governance and compliance with standards and regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, digital tools and ways of working.
• Assess and manage outsourcing and subcontracting strategies.
• Champion talent development, diversity, inclusion and high-performing culture.
• Monitor departmental KPIs and resource utilization; contribute to engineering strategy.
