Job summary

SBM Offshore in the Netherlands seeks an Engineering Department Manager – System Design to lead a multidisciplinary team of ~230 professionals across offshore energy projects. You will mentor 6 Discipline Managers, shape engineering governance, and ensure safe, high‑quality integrated designs while driving capability development and workforce planning.

As a member of the Engineering leadership team, you will contribute to strategic directions, manage resource allocation, and oversee compliance

Qualifications

Experience in leading large multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Proven track record in resource planning and organizational development.
Experience with engineering transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the System Design Department (~230 professionals) through a team of discipline managers.
Provide coaching and direction to discipline managers for alignment with business objectives.
Ensure integrated engineering designs and governance across offshore projects.
Own workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning and capability growth.
Balance project delivery with long-term capability building and resource optimization.
Oversee engineering quality, regulatory compliance and technical integrity.
