Job Title

Head of Portfolio Execution & Transformation - Digital Pathology

Job Description

At Philips Digital Pathology, we are accelerating the transformation of pathology through software, cloud-based solutions, AI-enabled innovation, and integrated diagnostics. To support this journey, we are looking for an experienced execution leader who can translate strategy into results and ensure our most critical business, product, engineering, and transformation initiatives are delivered with predictability, quality, and measurable customer and business impact.

As Head of Portfolio Execution & Transformation, you will play a pivotal leadership role within the Digital Pathology organization, partnering closely with Product and Engineering leadership to drive strategic portfolio execution across a global, cross-functional, and highly regulated environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of digital healthcare by leading large-scale transformation initiatives, improving execution excellence, and enabling the delivery of innovative solutions that support clinicians, laboratories, and patients worldwide.

Your role:

  • Act as the strategic execution leader for the Digital Pathology portfolio, ensuring business priorities, product roadmaps, engineering plans, and transformation initiatives translate into predictable and measurable outcomes.

  • Partner with the Product Leader and Head of Engineering as part of a leadership triad, aligning roadmap priorities, capacity planning, delivery commitments, risks, dependencies, quality expectations, and business objectives.

  • Own the overall execution health of a portfolio that includes software, hardware, cloud, AI, platform modernization, SaaS transition, scanner, and integrated diagnostics programs.

  • Drive accountability for cost, schedule, quality, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, customer readiness, and business outcome commitments across strategic initiatives.

  • Lead portfolio governance, executive reviews, release readiness processes, risk reviews, dependency management, decision forums, and escalation mechanisms to improve delivery predictability and execution transparency.

  • Translate strategy, innovation priorities, customer commitments, and transformation objectives into structured programs with clear ownership, milestones, success criteria, budgets, risks, and value realization plans.

  • Identify delivery risks early, drive recovery plans for at-risk programs, remove barriers, facilitate executive decisions, and ensure critical initiatives remain on track.

  • Lead execution governance for transformation programs including SaaS transition, cloud adoption, AI enablement, platform modernization, ecosystem partnerships, and Integrated Diagnostics initiatives.

  • Build and continuously improve the leadership operating system through effective governance frameworks, dashboards, analytics, reporting standards, decision logs, and execution cadences.

  • Leverage data, analytics, and AI-enabled methods to improve portfolio planning, forecasting, dependency management, risk identification, decision-making, and executive visibility.

  • Ensure release readiness and cross-functional alignment across engineering, regulatory, quality, operational, commercial, service, and customer deployment activities.

  • Strengthen the execution capability of the organization by evolving PMO standards, coaching program and portfolio leaders, and implementing best practices in governance, risk management, recovery planning, and value realization.

  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, continuous improvement, and execution excellence while enabling teams to deliver effectively in agile and regulated development environments.

  • Contribute to Philips’ broader Integrated Diagnostics strategy by connecting Digital Pathology initiatives with enterprise cloud, AI, informatics, imaging, data, and platform capabilities.

You’re the right fit if:

1. Experience

  • You bring significant leadership experience in complex, international, cross-functional organizations, with a proven track record of leading large-scale portfolios, strategic programs, transformation initiatives, PMO organizations, or product development organizations.

  • You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6-8 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree, within areas such as portfolio management, program management, engineering PMO, business transformation, product development, strategic execution, or related disciplines.

  • You have experience operating in software-intensive, healthcare technology, medical device, digital health, SaaS, cloud, platform, or other highly regulated environments.

2. Skills

  • You have demonstrated success translating strategy into execution, driving portfolio governance, improving delivery predictability, managing complex dependencies and risks, and leading business-critical programs to cost, schedule, quality, regulatory, and business outcome commitments.

  • You are experienced in working closely with Product and Engineering organizations and excel at influencing senior stakeholders across functions without relying on formal authority.

3. Education

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Technology Management, Healthcare Management, or a related field.

4. Additional qualifications

  • You bring strong executive communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, with experience leveraging data, dashboards, analytics, and ideally AI-enabled planning or reporting approaches to support decision-making.

  • Experience in digital pathology, healthcare informatics, enterprise imaging, diagnostics, connected medical devices, SaaS transformation, cloud adoption, AI enablement, platform modernization, or regulated medical device environments is highly desirable.

Compensation & benefits

Doing meaningful work should come with fair, transparent rewards. The base salary range for this role is € 93.049–€ 155.081. We determine pay within the range using objective factors, like the skills the role requires, your relevant experience and the responsibility you’ll have in this role, alongside internal equity and local market considerations.
This role is eligible for 6 % Annual Incentive, with your rewards linked to KPIs/company results. We’ll share the full approach with you during the interview process, so you can make a clear, informed decision.
