The Role

• Lead and mentor a talented engineering team, driving innovation and best practices
• Stay hands‑on with backend development using Java (21+), Spring Boot, and AWS
• Make key architectural and technical decisions for systems and tooling
• Design and scale distributed systems and high-performance APIs
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and client teams to deliver exceptional solutions
• Build and refine engineering processes, security standards, and team culture
• Play a key role in hiring, onboarding, and developing new engineering talent

The Ideal Profile

• 6+ years of backend development experience, including senior or lead roles
• Strong expertise in Java (21+), Spring Boot, AWS, and MongoDB
• Deep understanding of NoSQL database design, optimisation, and real‑time data flow
• A mix of hands‑on coding ability and a passion for mentoring others
• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
• Curiosity for emerging technologies such as AI, LLMs, and cloud‑native tools
