Job description

Fortaegis is a fast-scaling, highly ambitious and cutting-edge semiconductor company. We are looking for an experienced Hardware Security Engineer with a strong background in both digital design and physical security to join our engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of secure hardware architecture, ensuring resilience against advanced physical attacks. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of side-channel leakage, hands-on RTL implementation experience, and a passion for hardening hardware against sophisticated adversaries. We are looking for candidates with not only an exceptional skillset, but also an exceptional mindset, willing to go above and beyond to make our breakthrough product even better.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement high-performance cryptographic hardware accelerators (e.g., AES, ECC, RSA, SHA) using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Architect and integrate robust side-channel countermeasures directly into hardware logic
  • Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in hardware designs regarding Fault Injection (FI) and Side-Channel Analysis (SCA).
  • Conduct rigorous security evaluations, simulating real-world physical attacks.
  • Stay updated with the latest hardware security research, physical attack techniques, and best practices, and evaluate their impact on our products.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for hardware security architectures, countermeasure implementations, and validation reports.
  • Provide regular project updates, reporting progress against key milestones and identifying risks early.
Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with a focus on Hardware Security.
  • Expertise in Digital Design and RTL coding (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL) for ASICs or FPGAs.
  • Deep understanding of cryptographic algorithms and their hardware implementation requirements.
  • Proven experience implementing side-channel countermeasures and fault injection defenses.
  • Strong foundation in computer architecture, CMOS logic, and power consumption modeling.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, MATLAB) for cryptographic analysis and automation.
