Job summary

QuTech, part of TU Delft, seeks a Team Lead Electronics to drive design, development, and support of measurement electronics for quantum research. You will lead a small team, guide technical direction, and actively contribute to solutions with researchers while teaching and mentoring students.

The role requires broad expertise across analog/digital electronics, RF, EMC, and high-frequency design, with strong leadership and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electronics or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading small technical teams and guiding hands-on engineering.
• Strong background in analog/digital electronics, RF/microwave, EMC, and high-frequency design.
• Ability to translate research questions into electronics requirements and vice versa.
• Excellent communication and teaching skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instrumentation for quantum research labs, including home-built or adapted solutions.
• Advise researchers on instrumentation, identify improvements beyond initial requests.
• Lead short- and long-term electronics projects; translate research needs into proposals and instruments.
• Create roadmaps and requirements for delivering lab electronics.
• Conduct independent electronics research for quantum applications.
• Stay informed about electronics market developments relevant to quantum research.
• Coordinate activities of team members within projects and maintain documentation of electronics catalogues.
• Represent and promote the team within the organization and participate in cross-team activities.
• Teach and update electronics courses for researchers and supervise HBO-level interns.
