Job Title Graduation: Creating meaningful learning experiences for 1st line service desk engineers

Job Description

Assignment type: Graduation

Start date: February 2026

Assignment duration: 6 months

Location: Veghel

Education level: Bachelor

Desired study: Educational sciences, Human resource management, applied psychology and learning & development

Language: Dutch / English

Description of assignment At Vanderlande, our service desk teams support automated logistics systems at airports, warehouses, and distribution centers worldwide. When issues arise, our engineers are the first point of contact for the customer and must act quickly. However, understanding technical problems is only part of the challenge engineers also need to grasp the operational impact on the customer, such as what system downtime means for a busy airport or distribution center. Transferring this crucial contextual knowledge is currently difficult within a 24/7 shift environment. In this assignment, you will design a modern learning concept that helps service desk engineers understand customer context, speak the customer's language, and translate this into system impact for better decision-making during urgent situations. You will combine learning science insights with real-world practice cases to create a practical, scalable learning solution for our global service desk organization.

Department description

You will join the Vanderlande service desk team, an international group of around 135 colleagues based in the Netherlands, Spain, and the US. Operating 24/7, our teams support over 600 customers worldwide by resolving incidents, optimizing system performance, and keeping essential operations running smoothly.

  • Analyze what employees need in complex operational situations and translate this into key competencies and learning needs
  • Design a modern learning concept (such as microlearning, social learning, or learning-on-the-job)
  • Develop and test a pilot learning program with service desk engineers and team leads
  • Evaluate the impact of the pilot program and advise on how to scale the solution globally
Your profile
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Educational Sciences, Learning & Development, Human Resource Management, or a related field
  • Curious about how learning directly impacts operational performance
  • Ability to translate educational theories into practical, user-friendly solutions
  • Strong communication skills and comfort engaging with engineers and international stakeholders
  • Proactive mindset and comfortable working within an international organization
  • Mandatory enrolment to a Dutch Education System & resident of The Netherlands
