Job summary

CodeGuild, an Amsterdam fintech scale-up, is seeking a Backend Engineer to build Go services around physical terminals, working closely with a CTO and a senior team. You will contribute to core processing and production ownership, in an environment where observability and reliability are critical.

The role offers an indefinite contract from day one, salary up to €85.000 plus €20.000 in stock options, and a hybrid Amsterdam setup with a diverse, international team.

Qualifications

• 2 to 6 years as a backend engineer.
• Experience building and operating services in production.
• Comfort with distributed systems: retries, idempotency.
• Go in production or a strongly typed backend language.
• CS fundamentals and first-principles thinking; a technical MSc is a strong plus.
• You explain trade-offs clearly, in English, without jargon.
• High emotional intelligence: low ego, hungry, you like being challenged by people who are better than you.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate backend services in production.
• Work in a small Go team next to the CTO to iterate quickly.
• Ensure idempotency, encryption and correct state across systems.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and code quality.
