Job description

Job Description

Fugro builds the positioning products behind critical geodata operations worldwide. Our team engineers Fugro's proprietary correction services and positioning engines into products spanning hardware and software StarPack, our GNSS receiver platform deployed on vessels across the globe, and MultiFix, the real-time positioning and QC solution within the Starfix software suite. We are now building the next generation of resilient PNT positioning that stays accurate and trustworthy under jamming, spoofing and signal denial.

We are looking for an engineer who makes sure all of it works — and proves it. You will own the testing of our GNSS software and hardware, build an AI-driven test harness around it, and act as the technical backbone of our product support. You will work AI-native coding agents, LLM-assisted tooling and automated pipelines will be your default way of working here — whether you bring that habit with you or build it with us.

You will join a small, senior team of development engineers led by an engineering manager, in a role that closes the loop between building and verifying.

Your role
  • You test GNSS hardware and software end to end, including receiver platforms (StarPack), positioning and QC software (MultiFix/Starfix), firmware releases, correction services and output formats, both on the bench and in hardware-in-the-loop setups;
  • You engineer and operate the RF/receiver test loop by recording real-world signal and interference environments, replaying them against receivers and antennas under test using GNSS simulation and record & playback equipment, and translating results into repeatable, documented test procedures;
  • You own, maintain and document the GNSS hardware test environment, including bench setups, hardware-in-the-loop rigs, RF/simulator equipment and record & playback systems, ensuring they remain calibrated and available;
  • You build and expand the AI test harness, including LLM‑assisted test generation, automated regression testing across firmware and receiver‑card variants, self‑healing test suites and automated failure triage with structured, actionable output;
  • You organize the flow of test and field data to the positioning engine development team by consolidating conversion tools, defining delivery formats, and creating AI‑assisted scripts and tooling for reliable dataset conversion, validation and handover;
  • You provide 2nd and 3rd line support by resolving escalated technical issues, reproducing complex faults in the lab, performing root‑cause analysis and feeding structural fixes back to the development team;
  • You capture and share knowledge through runbooks, knowledge‑base articles and test documentation, while occasionally travelling for field data‑recording campaigns and visits to vessels or regional operations.
Your track record
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Geodesy, Navigation Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline;
  • You bring at least 3 years of relevant engineering experience and have a strong GNSS foundation, including multi‑constellation and multi‑frequency positioning, PPP/RTK/DGNSS concepts, correction services, and protocol‑level knowledge of NMEA, RTCM and raw receiver logs;
  • You handle GNSS data confidently, including RINEX, IQ recordings and proprietary log formats, as well as format conversion, batch processing and validation;
  • You communicate fluently in English, both written and oral. Dutch is not required.
Nice To Have
  • You have hands‑on hardware experience with GNSS receivers, antennas, RF cabling, signal generators, simulators and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing;
  • You have experience with scripting and test automation, including CI‑integrated test pipelines, regardless of the programming language used;
  • You work in an AI‑native way, leveraging coding agents and LLM‑based tooling to build, test and automate solutions, or you are eager to adopt this approach;
  • You bring a support‑oriented mindset, combining structured troubleshooting, clear communication and persistence in reproducing and resolving complex issues;
  • You have experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR), GNSS simulators such as Spirent, jamming and spoofing test scenarios, and collaborating within distributed teams.
What We Offer
  • A diverse and inclusive working environment;
  • Based on your relevant experience, the salary ranges from €5400 to €6100. This amount is part of our salary range, with opportunities for growth within the role;
  • 29 holidays per year based on a fulltime employment (of which 4 are appointed by Fugro management) and the possibility to purchase 12 additional days;
  • The opportunity to work from home in accordance with your manager and corporate policies;
  • The possibility of setting up an ergonomic home office, including requesting equipment such as hardware or basic office furniture;
  • Work‑from‑home allowance of EUR 2,35 net per day, where applicable;
  • Commuting allowance, with mileage reimbursement for car travel (10-30 km one‑way) and an additional EUR 0,10 per km for employees who walk or cycle to work;
  • Modern pension scheme;
  • Discounts on supplementary health insurance packages through Fugro’s partner providers;
  • Free parking in our on‑site parking garage, with ample parking facilities and electric vehicle charging stations available;
  • A bicycle leasing scheme with a company contribution;
  • Possibility to register with our corporate fitness plan and access to the gym at Fugro’s headquarters, including participation in group fitness classes;
  • Coaching and support through our EAP (Employee Assistance Program).
