Job summary

GenScript USA Inc. is seeking an Import‑Export Compliance Expert (Externally) / Customs Affairs Compliance Expert (Internally) to join our European team in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. This hybrid role combines policy development, operations support, and regulatory monitoring across the EU and UK.

You will lead risk assessments, manage licenses, and collaborate with legal, logistics, and external stakeholders to ensure compliant trade activities. English and Dutch fluency required; Mandarin a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in managing import/export compliance programs, preferably EU/UK.
• Solid knowledge of EU customs regulations, export controls, and related trade compliance laws; UK customs knowledge is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks and develop solutions.
• Excellent communication with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders.
• Possession of a valid customs broker certificate or equivalent is required.
• Proficiency in English and Dutch; Mandarin a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee the company’s import/export compliance program, ensuring adherence to EU, UK and global regulations.
• Create and maintain import/export control policies and procedures.
• Oversee documentation, record-keeping, and audits for EU/UK authorities.
• Classify HS codes and issue customs commodity descriptions; liaise with customs/brokers and internal teams.
• Monitor regulatory updates and advise stakeholders on required adaptations.
