Job summary

ICMP is seeking a Director of Science and Technology to provide strategic leadership for global scientific capabilities used to locate, recover, document, account for, and identify missing persons. You will oversee archaeology/anthropology, DNA labs, research, and ethics compliance within ICMP's Standing Capacity for Crisis Response.

The role requires a doctoral-/advanced-level degree with 10+ years in scientific leadership, exceptional communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to drive

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in a relevant scientific or forensic field (e.g., biological/forensic anthropology, biology, forensic science, pathology, genetics or archaeology).
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience with significant senior-level leadership in scientific/forensic domains.
• Extensive DNA science expertise related to human identification and multidisciplinary forensic knowledge.
• Experience leading scientific teams and developing scientific methods.
• Knowledge of forensic science's role in legal/investigative systems.
• Professional fluency in written/spoken English; additional languages are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for ICMP's Science and Technology program and act as principal advisor on scientific matters related to missing persons.
• Develop and implement ICMP's scientific strategy and Standing Capacity for Crisis Response.
• Oversee forensic archaeology/anthropology, DNA labs, scientific R&D, and quality/ethics/compliance systems.
• Drive scientific innovation and adoption of emerging technologies and methodologies.
• Lead capacity building and partnerships with governments, forensic institutions, academia, and stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor multidisciplinary scientists and represent ICMP in international forums.
