Job summary

Ventula Consulting Ltd. is seeking a highly technical Software Engineering Manager to join our Geospatial Engineering function in Amsterdam. The role combines hands-on coding with strategic leadership as the team grows to two squads.

You will coach engineers, drive scalable infrastructure and system design, and align technical decisions with business goals. Hybrid work requires 2 days onsite in Amsterdam per week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
• Hands-on software development skills across backend/infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of system design and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and monitoring.
• Excellent written and spoken communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of software engineers.
• Drive infra improvements for scalability and reliability.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across software development and architecture.
• Oversee delivery of projects to high standards and deadlines.
• Own production systems and drive incident resolution and RCAs.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to align tech solutions with business goals.
• Champion engineering best practices and operational excellence.
• Support growth of the engineering function as it expands to two teams.
