Job summary

Enza Zaden, a leader in vegetable breeding, seeks a Genomic Breeder to bring genomic technologies into our breeding programs and translate complex data into practical tools for breeders. You will collaborate with breeders and bioinformaticians to accelerate progress and deliver impactful varieties.

Requirements include 2+ years in genomic breeding or related, MSc/PhD in a relevant field, data interpretation skills, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Quantitative Genetics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in genomic breeding, genomic selection, predictive breeding, or related discipline.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting genotypic and phenotypic data in a breeding context.
• Knowledge of genetic gain, selection strategies, experimental design, and breeding KPIs.
• Bioinformatics and scripting literacy to collaborate with data scientists and bioinformaticians.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with breeders to understand breeding challenges, objectives, and opportunities.
• Drive implementation of genomic selection, predictive breeding, and data-driven approaches.
• Analyze genotypic and phenotypic data and translate insights into breeding strategies.
• Ensure quality and interpretation of genotypic and phenotypic data for decisions.
• Contribute crop-specific expertise to new methods, workflows, and software with data scientists.
• Lead implementation projects and support stakeholder alignment and continuous improvement.
